Rectal Thermometer
For the first 6 months of your baby’s life, a rectal thermometer is the most accurate method for taking your baby’s temperature. This inexpensive thermometer takes fast readings and has a flexible tip for comfort and ease of use.
Nursing/Pumping Bra
The SuperMom bra allows you to nurse, pump, or both at the same time (baby one side, pump on the other). It’s comfortable enough to wear all day so you’re not changing your bra every 3 hours.
Lollipop WiFi Monitor
This WiFi monitor can be easily moved from room-to-room which can be great for when your baby starts transitioning to their own room for naps and/or nighttime. It comes in 3 cute colors and is much less expensive than similar products.
Ubbi Diaper Pail
The Ubbi pail is great as you can use regular trash bags (I recommend the scented kind) rather than buying special bags.
Ergo 360 Omni
This carrier is great for older babies (and can be used for newborns too) for indoor and outside use (though I typically prefer the Solly wrap for indoor use and the Ergo for outdoor).
Foldout Book
The Black and White foldout book is excellent for keeping your little one entertained during tummy time, playtime, or for diaper changing.
Play mat
Using a play mat for tummy time and independent play is great for baby’s development while you take a break to grab a bite to eat/shower/”me-time”.
Baby tub
This is one area to NOT spend extra money. This is one of the cheapest tubs on the market and it’s still my favorite after almost 10 years of being a doula!
Washcloths
I love these soft washcloths for bathtime. If you’re extra resourceful you can even use them as reusable paper towels when you’re done 😉
Nose Frida
The Nose Frida does an excellent job of removing mucus from your baby’s nose during a period of congestion or having a cold. This cost-efficient version comes with extra filters and saline solution to loosen the mucus.
Boots
Forget the socks – they always fall off anyway! Get a pair or two of these booties and you’re all set.
Baby Wipes
These are some of the most gentle wipes I know of – great for babies with sensitive skin or who are prone to diaper rash.
Diaper rash treatment
When the coconut oil isn’t cutting it and baby has a bad rash, A&D tends to work very well.
Toothbrush Set
As soon as your little one sprouts their first tooth, you’ll need to develop a habit of daily brushing. This set makes it easy for all ages.
O Ball
I don’t typically recommend too many plastic toys, but this ball is a great first toy as it’s super easy to hold. It will last years and can be used to learn to catch or kick as your child gets older.
Swing
Of all of the swings on the market, this is still my favorite. It motions side-to-side or back-to-front with one easy switch, is comfortable for newborns and infants (reclines much more than other swings that I’ve seen), and is relatively inexpensive.
Book: Hunt Gather Parent
I highly recommend this book for a more relaxed parent-child relationship. There’s an audio version, too, if you prefer to listen on the go.
